Andrzej Zielinski
Andrzej Zielinski (born Oct. 14th 1962 in Tarnow) - Polish film, theatre and television actor. Apart from acting in his native Polish he is also experienced in acting in English. He is known for "The Pianist" by Romana Polanski, "Vent d'est" (Wind From East) by Robert Enrico, "Egregor" by Stanislav Kapralov.
He specializes in creating psychologically nuanced characters: villain in "Extradition 2", intelligent in "A Grain of Truth" or psychopathic gangster in "Inverted". He perfectly plays roles of policemen in "Manhunt", "Black Mercedes", commander Konrad Markowski in the series "WPack", CIA agent in "Operation Samum". He is considered one of the most talented Polish actors. He has appeared in films by world-renowned directors, such as the awarded with the Palme d'Or at Cannes IFF "The Pianist", "Chopin. Desire for Love" and "Wind from East". In the above listed movies he appeared on screen next to such masters as Adrien Brody, Malcolm McDowell, Rutger Hauer, Ron Silver, Roy Scheider or the Polish stars such as Krystyna Janda or Agata Kulesza. Personal charm, unconventional male beauty, sense of humor and sarcasm are the features that attract the attention of not only his loyal audience, but also of directors and producers.
In 1986, Andrzej graduated from the Acting Department of the State School of Theater in Cracow. He has been living in Warsaw for many years. He played on the stages of J. Slowacki Theater in Cracow and the Ateneum Theater in Warsaw. Since 2001, he has been an actor of the Wspólczesny Theater in Warsaw. His most important theatrical roles include Wiktor in "Bambini di Praga" directed by Agnieszka Glinska, Osip in "Untitled Art" directed by Agnieszka Glinska, Claudius in "Hamlet" directed by Maciej Englert. Winner of many acting awards, including three-times Feliks Warszawski for the best leading male roles - Lilek Czech in Tadeusz Konwicki's "Ascension", adapted and directed by Maciej Englert, Captain in "Pretending A Victim" directed by Maciej Englert and for the role of A Stroncylow in "People and Angels" directed by Wojciech Adamczyk; He was awarded with Aleksander Zelwerowicz award for the role of Fomicz Opiskin in Fyodor Dostoyevsky's play "Your Excellency" directed by Izabella Cywinska, in 2006 awarded by the monthly "Teatr". He is a three-time winner of the Sopot Festival of the Polish Radio Theater and the Polish Television Theater "Two Theaters".
In cinematography, Zielinski made his debut in "Holidays with Madonna". Two years later, he appeared in "Yesterday" which was recognized with the FIPRESCI award at the Venice IFF and the Golden Shell award of the San Sebastian IFF. He later played several important roles in films, including "Havet Stiger", "Gold Of Deserters", "Quo Vadis", "We Are All Christs", "Crown Witness", "Volta", "Mr. T.". In 2021, he once again appeared in the English-speaking role in the American-Ukrainian production "Egregor".
The actor is also active in dubbing. He was a voice in movies and computer games, including "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" - Febus, "Quantum of Solace" - James Bond, "Crew G" - Darwin.
Zielinski has been living in Warsaw for many years. He focuses on his work, he avoids publicity. He values a quiet life on the outskirts of the city, loves to cook, loves animals, enjoys skiing in the mountains and spending time in his favorite European city - Rome.
